Thanks to all who made the 5th annual Berlin-Bochum Memory Alliance symposium a success, also to Lisa Velenosi coordinated the early career programme. This month, we also join in celebrating 7 more years of excellence with the renewal of the Berlin University Alliance (BUA, 2027 - 2033). Learn about strategic foci of the network in BUA's self assessment report, and about the science hub, Berlin in Brain City Berlin.

Chasing dopamine off the beaten path: A smells, heterogeneity, plasticity and learning story
April 14, 2025 | 4:00 pm CET | BCCN Lecture Hall Philippstraße 13, 10115 | ZOOM ID: 7754910236
|
|
Dopaminergic neurons in the olfactory bulb play an important role in early sensory processing by modulating synaptic gain and exhibiting remarkable plasticity. These neurons are highly heterogeneous in their responses to sensory deprivation: some undergo structural and excitability changes, others primarily adjust their synaptic connections, and some can even regenerate throughout life. >> Read more

Open Research Environment (ORE) supports the transition toward more open and digital research practices. It promotes open access to publications, transparent data sharing, and sustainable research infrastructures, aiming to improve the accessibility, visibility, and reproducibility of publicly funded research. Starting in 2026, Germany will participate in the Open Research Europe (ORE) platform, enabling researchers at German institutions to publish their work as open access free of charge. With the DFG acting as a country-level member, submissions will be open to all researchers regardless of funding status, with submissions expected to begin in autumn 2026.... Read more here >
